The digital design trend changes every day for various reasons, mainly to better accommodate the users and improve its functionality. Often, the changes also aim to implement the latest technological advancement. The changes made and newly implemented innovations become a fashion that exists in a certain period. As we have entered the last month this year, creators are excitingly predicting what kind of style or tech in UI design would be massive next year.

For those digitally concerned businesses, jumping on the bandwagon is mandatory. Everyone wants to be in fashion. To adopt the latest UI trends is to maintain a close relationship and “relatedness” between your company and the audiences. Trends are varied due to their influences and purposes. Hence, before you choose, you need to consider which trends suit your brand the best. It is best to have a consistent design framework intended for the long run, which still provides room to be “in-trend.”

Grab your notes as in this article, we have pitched the rumors and highlighted the eight design styles most likely to be the 2021 UI Design Trend for you.

Dark Mode

Since its first launches on popular web and platforms, the dark mode has got many’s attention and love. There are two main reasons why it is preferable to the bright mode. The first is the practical reason as it’s easier on the eyes as it could significantly reduce the blue light exposure, glare and save the battery power. On the other hand, it offers a modern yet simple, sleek, and sophisticated look. It allows the highlight of different design elements as the background is dark. The pro tip: neon or pastel color made the look effortlessly elegant. It is safe to assume that the dark mode hype would most likely continue in 2021.

Mixing Medium / Collage

Uniqueness is the breath of every art piece, including in the UI design. This distinguishable game is getting strong today. Hence, here comes the mixing medium and elements in user interface design in 2021. With the advancement in graphic technology, it is now possible to design web or app’s UI/UX with the medium mixing style, which combines elements from photographs, illustration, 2D/3D graphic designs to hand-drawn elements to create the best visual interaction. This style allows designers to craft an aesthetically pleasing look while conveying creative vibes to the audience. As if having two strings to one bow, also enables the designer to display their graphics portfolio. It is a groundbreaking stream of digital design as it continues to develop other styles such as the anti-design and the contemporary style. It is up to you to incorporate elements such as intense color contrast between text and background.

3D Design

The three-dimensional design would gain so much more popularity in the next future and would likely mark 2021 as the year of 3D design. It has fascinated many audiences in 2020 as more and more websites, and brands adopted it on their digital display. A 3D vidual offers users a novel experience as they lay between actual life and digital existence.

Neumorphism

Neumorphism is the next generation of skeuomorphism, an anti-flat-design that creates three-dimensional and rich graphics into a two-dimensional surface, which popular around 2007. The skeuomorphism is notably seen in Windows XP, Vista, and Apple iOS 7. What is new about Neumorphism is that it combines skeuomorphism and flat design at once. It offers a novel sensation, especially with the three-dimensional button that is close to the real one. This style is perfectly combined with soft and pastel colors in harnessing the sleekness of futurism.

Motion & Interactive

Adding motion to the design allows the user to boost the interactivity as it enables the visual to give feedback to any action taken by the user. It is surprising and engaging as it brings a new life to a static page. On top of that, meaningful motion in design could significantly increase the user’s experience.

Organic design

The concern over sustainability and environmentalism positively influences this trend. An organic design relied heavily on a natural yet powerful visual from outdoor and realistic elements. Its main features are earthy color, natural shapes, raw organic textures, floral decorations, and extensive outdoor landscapes.

Bauhaus

Initially coming from the architecture, the Bauhaus style now continues its influence on digital design. Its main characteristics are the use of lines or geometrical shapes, simplicity, and straightforwardness. It is easily recognizable with the application of strong red, blue, and yellow.

Bold typography

With the limited chances to get our website seen, the key to be noticeable and being in the user’s top of mind is through engaging heading typed in bold. This trend also allows the designer to highlight certain elements, such as the products or services provided.

Conclusion

A digital design’s fanciness would be fruitless when it cannot build a useful online experience. It is worth noting that users tend to consider load time and responsiveness. A digital product, at least, must have fulfilled the three aspects: functionality, inclusivity, and accessibility. The functions of each web/app may vary on the target of the company. For instance, e-commerce designs their web/app to sell; government institutions are going digital to serve the citizen better, educational institutions provide online learning, etc. The UI design then plays its role to maximize the functionality. Furthermore, with 1.8 billion people or 58 % of the world’s population actively using the internet in 2019, it is crucial to make sure that the product is inclusive and accessible to all.
